I’m in Auburn. Yeah probably the Bahamas would be closest. Any favorite islands?

Love the bahamas. Been there 4 times

Where is home base for you Sandy? The only tropical places I have been are the two you mentioned, plus Fiji but that’s a very long flight. Is Bahamas too far from you? I’ve always heard wonderful things!

Hi everyone. What would be your recommendations for a tropical island not Hawaii or Mexico keeping in mind not a terribly long flight, natural beauty, and safety? Thanks 😊

Hey Scottie! This group is for those who love to travel & share where they’ve been! Traveling to the coast or to another country, there’s no rules on how far from home :)

How far from home is travel?

????? Can someone define what is technically travel for this group?

Not sure Julie. Have you tried the Group Search Engine?

Is there an Airport Lounge subchat or main chat?

Perfect shot with the “Sunset Over Dogs” 🩵

A couple of my favorites from last weekends trip to Dumont Sand Dunes.

I thought all of you would enjoy our zoo from our last cruise. 😁 The dusks were also a hit although some adults picked them up😕 Seeing the kids excitement was so much fun. My husband started to get into it too😃

I'll have to post some photos after our cruise to Belize!!
@Julie, thanks for the tip!

For those with an Alaskan cruise on your bucket list: Make sure you book one with glaciers. “The Inside Passage” is not a glacier. We thought our cruise included some but found out the hard way. We ended up taking a tour to a glacier because “the inside passage” isn’t one.

I would have to say it is a tie between a trip to New Zealand to visit my aunt and uncle. I spent 3 weeks there (before the earth quakes) and about 2.5 weeks in Sydney on the way back. This was in 2001. The other was a 14 day cruise that included going through both sets of locs of Panama Canal. I’ve been on several Alaskan Cruises and the Panama Canal cruise is a step above. It is amazing on another level. Maybe the fact that they were man made. Humans came up with the idea and executed it, without the “do it for you” technology we have today. I’ll admit, I am kind of a geek about that type of stuff😆 We also had some amazing excursions on that trip.

My husband's big vacation wish is also an Alaskan cruise. The people I know who have gone always bring back the most amazing pictures.
Love that. Great memories

The biggest trip I went on was with my recently departed wife, before we were married, in 1982. We took a trip around the country to decide where we were going to live. So many memories! We started out from St. Pete, FL and went up the eastern seaboard to New York (Upstate, not THE City), then across the northern route to the west coast, down through CA, then back to FL across the southern route. I could easily write a book on the memories of that trip alone. It took us about a month and a half, so it was more of a leisurely, exploratory trip. If we saw something that piqued our interest we detoured to check it out. By the end, we narrowed it down to three places, but that’s a story for another day. 🩵 This country we live in is absolutely filled with amazing places and people and history! While I’ve seen a LOT of this country, there’s still many states I have not yet visited. I plan to change that. And include many other countries as well. Have fun traveling 🩵

I hope to go on an Alaska cruise soon. Finally got my passport, so I’m looking forward to some traveling.

It was truly amazing. And then to watch bald eagles.

One day I will go! I like the beautiful scenery.

Seeing the glacier and Alaska, that area, was amazing. The ports were amazing. I got lucky with the weather.

I would love to go on the Alaskan cruise.

That sounds amazing. I have two. Took a cruise to Hawaii and Alaska. I want to do both again.

Happy Sunday, everyone. Question for the group - what's the most epic vacation you've ever taken? I'll start. 2 years ago, my husband and I did a Nile cruise! Talk about epic! We're talking the great pyramids, the Sphinx, Valley of the Kings... truly amazing!

We're headed to Belize and Grand Cayman in 3 weeks on a cruise out of Tampa! Can't wait!! We're not hiding ducks, but I made some stickers that were going to "hide"!

Wow. Great vacay pics from everyone!
@Sterling. You should know. You took some of these pics😂
@Melissa That’s Awesome! it was a great trip and can’t wait to do it again. Such a beautiful area. Even outside of the Nat’l Parks.

Ooh I looooved Idaho, Wyoming & Montana!! We did a trip thru there June 2017 and plan on going again next year!

Wow how freaking cool!! Yall have been to some amazing states already! For outdoors lovers, PNW is the best! I’ve always thought the idea of renting an RV & traveling across the country would be so cool!

@Tori that state is on our bucket list. We have done most of Nevada, California, Arizona and Utah. This past summer we took a trip to Idaho, Wyoming and Montana and crossed a couple more National Parks off our list. I’m blessed with a remote job and in April my wife will be looking for remote work as well and the plan is to full time across the country in our RV for at least a couple years.

It sure is!!!

Yes Melissa! Nature is truly healing!

Aww what a great pic! Getting outdoors is so great!

If y’all like camping you should check out Oregon sometime! Quite the drive but sooo worth it! ⛰️😍

Oh my goodness how fun!! I LOVE camping! I haven’t been in almost 2 years :/ also your pups are adorable!

Awesome! Thanks for letting me join! My wife and I love to camp and off-road with our 2 Springer puppies Madison and Lambeau. We are based in Vegas and try to camp a couple times a month anywhere within a 4 hour drive from us. I’ll share a few pics from our past travels on the Pictures page.

Good mornin & welcome to the chat Dan! This chat is public for anyone!

Good morning Travel Life chat. I stumbled across this chat today and just making sure this is public for anyone to share or if it’s private for an established group of friends?

We've been ziplining before, in Costa Rica, and we did it hanging upside down!!! I can't wait!!!

My niece did an excursion like that and even did the zip line upside down. Crazy girl. She said it was a blast.

@Kim, we've got a couple of excursions planned. I think we're doing an ATV, zip lining and cave tour, also doing a snorkel trip. I'm hoping we'll have some time to wander around a bit, as well. We'll be on a cruise, so time is limited in port.

Do you have any ‘must sees’ planned? How exciting!!

Heading to Belize next month! Have never been!! Can't wait!

Thank you!!!

Balli and phuket. He is going to the music festival I dint know if I spelled that correctly

Oooo I might! My aunt is from there, let me pick her brain on what to do! When is he going? @Elizabeth

Anyone have any advice for Thai land? Son is traveling there soon

Ohh very cool!! Yeah even tips and tricks of any kind are super helpful for travelers!!

I’m not experienced enough to feel comfortable helping anyone out of the country, but I have helped people with things like condo stays and hotels. I never got into it for making commissions so I just allow whoever is going the discounted price. There’s also another thing included called hot weeks stays that would normally cost hundreds or thousands are hugely discounted. The thing with hot weeks you have to be open meaning if check-in is Monday you have to check in that day, they are all 1 week stays in condos. We personally haven’t used it yet. The list of places available changes daily. These are places that were not booked and the closer we get to the date, the lower the cost to stay.

So do you do much with the travel agent license … like have you helped any friends plan any trips? I have a UK trip floating around in our minds for 2028 or 2029…. lol

Yeah I told Brent he can do the swamp and I’ll go explore the voodoo shops lol

I don’t know about a swamp tour, though I don’t think that’s up my alley. Makes me think of mosquitoes, mud and alligators.

I got myself and my husband a travel agent license so we could go places at a discount. There are discounts on everything but flights because flights are really tied to the price of fuel. And go figure we rarely use it. I keep the annual dues up though because we will eventually use it more often. There are some really cool train rides that I’d like to take some beautiful country and some themes that they put with them that I’m very interested in trying.

We went in late March which was better weather/temps - it can get sweltering there

If we go back, Brent wants to do a swamp tour lol

Sounds so fun.
